We are excited to introduce ourselves to the community. We are a collective of Maxwell residents who have joined forces to revive the former Old Settlers Committee. To distinguish ourselves from the 2024 committee, we have chosen to stand out as the Old Settlers Generations Committee.
Our Mission:
Our essence lines in the unity of individuals born and living in the same era and in the creation of a special community event. Together, we represent a trusted diverse group of GENERATIONS collaborating to uplift the wonderful small town of Maxwell, Iowa. This work is funneled into the iconic Old Settlers Picnic that is held the first full weekend in August in the Maxwell City Park. Through lasting partnerships with other existing local organizations, we aim to keep alive and rejuvenate the Old Settlers Picnic annually into a vibrant gathering where people of all ages come together to enjoy games, dancing, and celebrate the unique spirit that is rural Iowa.
We have secured the rental of Maxwell City Park for our 2025 event, with the exception of the Shelter House, also known as the Church Stand. An open public meeting is scheduled for August 28th at 6:30 P.M. at the Maxwell Area Community Center. Kindly review our proposed meeting agenda below. Please be aware that this agenda is subject to change or updates based on public feedback. If you have any inquiries, please send us a private message for assistance.
